It is her final children's book & was written in memory of 17 year old Trayvon Martin, who was fatally shot by George Zimmerman in 2012. The book was written for young children & pre-teens. "Mama, Are Hoodies Bad?" is the tale of a wealthy African American family of 4 & the fear that young Marcus has of wearing his hooded jacket on a rainy day. His dad is an NBA player and gifted him a wardrobe of clothes with his team number on them, which he is proud of. This book is about society & the fears that African American families face in regards to being racially profiled.
